Utah: age-verification law for adult sites

Summary of the official sources · checked 20 October 2026 · Not legal advice.

Utah SB 287 (Online Pornography Viewing Age Requirements) requires age verification for sites with material harmful to minors. Signed 14 Mar 2023, effective 3 May 2023. According to the preliminary injunction of the US District Court for the District of Utah of 24 September 2026 (Aylo v. Utah Division of Consumer Protection, No. 2:26-cv-00340, checked 20 October 2026), Utah may not enforce Utah Code §78B-3-1002(3), the rule about visitors actually located in Utah (for example behind a VPN), while the case continues; the order covers only that subsection, so the rest of the law still applies.
